2010 Season

After finishing 12-4 in 2008, the team failed to make the playoffs in '09.  Finishing with an 8-8 record, the team will have a chance to bounce back with the acquisition of QB Jimmy Clausen in the first round of the 2010 draft who is destined to be the quarterback of the future for the team after the explosion of Matt Moore.  The team is also looking at turning former Appalachian State FCS QB Armanti Edwards into an NFL Wide Receiver. He will be getting instruction from new Panthers Receiving Coach Tyke Tolbert who is encouraged by what he's seen so far.  "He comes here and he has no bad habits," said Tolbert. "The stuff that I'm teaching him, well, it's his first time learning it so that's a good thing."

2009 Season

In 2009, the year of the Saints, the idea of the return of the Panthers to the playoffs was short lived as the team lost their first three games by a combined score of 37 points to their opponents 87.  They did not get their first victory until week five of the season in a game against the Washington Redskins which they won by a mere 3 points. The main problem was the career high interceptions QB Jake Delhomme threw.  While Matt Moore was in for Delhomme, he managed a 4-1 record, threw 7 touchdowns and zero interceptions, opened up the running game for DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart; each running for 1,100 yards.

2008 Season

The 2008 Panthers season ended with a loss to the eventual NFC Champion St. Louis Cardinals. After finishing in 1st place in the NFC South with a 12-4 record, Head Coach John Fox will look to push his Panthers through the NFC Championships and into the Super Bowl.

With Jake Delhomme leading the Panthers at QB and a healthy Steve Smith back in the starting lineup, expect the Panthers to take a couple of weeks to gel but to again compete for the NFC West and for tickets to Bank of America Stadium to be in huge demand.
